“John is an amazing person and friend! Our paths crossed (both in a good way and bad) back in April of 2011 one morning. That morning I was on my way to work and someone was on their way home from a night shift and fell asleep at the wheel and we collided head on. John was one of the first responders to arrive at the scene of the accident. Now I don’t remember too much due to the trauma from my injuries that I sustained, but John was able to calmly provide what care he could during a time in which I was bleeding out and screaming in pain! He kept me calm and alert while other first responders assessed how to treat me and remove me from my car. He was in the car with me. This was no easy task since the engine of my car had pushed the dash on to my lap and I was trapped and bleeding out of my leg where I had a compound fracture that had severed my artery in my leg. Not to mention once John found out what my name was he realized he knew my aunt and other family members of mine well. After I was removed from my car I was mercy flighted to the hospital! I had a grueling 2 month period where I fought for my life in a medical induced coma while in the ICU and then spent the next 6-9 months learning how to walk again. John would check in with my aunt on how I was doing in the hospital frequently. Once I was out of the hospital he attended a fundraiser that was thrown for me to help with medical expenses and we became close friends after talking about my accident. Even though at the time I didn’t remember talking to him while I was trapped in my car. lol.

I am very happy that our paths crossed that morning even though it wasn’t ideally under the best circumstances!

I am very proud of you John and I know you will be the best d**n pediatrician buddy!!!”

“Dr. John was my son’s doctor while he was in the hospital for severe pneumonia. To say it was one of the scariest moments I’ve had as a parent is an understatement. Dr. John has a way to not only soothe the patient with his kind and caring bedside manner, but he also helped make my husband and I feel completely confident and comforted knowing that our son was in the best care. He doesn’t treat his patients as a number, he learns everything he can about them to help ease their fears & bring smiles to their faces. I definitely plan on bringing my children to Dr. John.”

“John is a family friend that I have known all my life. I know he cares about the job he does, which is exceedingly rare these days. Recently my granddaughter was sick and in the ICU. He was available with any questions my husband, my mom, or I had. He checked up on us and even sent us informative blurbs about her conditions. Our doctors weren't bad, but people are in such a rush you're always going to be left with a lot of questions. His patience and the amount of time he gave us is special in today's world. He can keep it simple when needed or give you every little detail if you ask. He's honest, and doesn't pull any punches. We would use him in a heartbeat if he lived in the same state.”

“Being John's girlfriend, my review will undoubtedly be biased. But I can't say I know anyone more honest or deserving of success than John. He's always been involved in helping people, from being a fireman, an EMT, and now a pediatrician opening his own concierge practice. He could have easily taken a job as an attending somewhere at a hospital, but he's always sought to be more involved with his patients and their families.

This past Thursday night, we were headed home on the I95. Eerily, immediately after I had finished reading a review left from someone who was rescued from a car accident by John while he was an EMT, we came upon a motorcycle accident that has just occurred not even 5 minutes prior. We pulled over and John ran to motorcyclist who was laying in the road, just as the first policeman pulled up as well. He instructed the officer on how to roll the man over and stabilized his neck while we, (the officer, myself, and a few other individuals who stopped to help) rolled him onto his back. John held his neck in place and maintained his airway until fire and ambulance arrived on scene. You really get a feel for who someone is when they’re hunched over someone they don’t know with cars whipping by them at night as a cop is throwing out the first emergency flares. He took control of the scene effortlessly. The policemen and firefighters immediately knew to place their trust in him. I’ve never had the chance to see him work, aside from playing Santa. The whole thing was surreal to me.

John has always offered help, to anyone and everyone in any situation, not just medical. Recently, one of our dogs had a visit to the vet. Upon leaving, there was a young woman who's puppy had been shot. She was scrambling to come up with the money needed to do the necessary scans, as well as any treatment afterwards. John spoke with the woman and kindly loaned her the money for the scans needed to assess the puppy's injuries. John is a resident. He doesn’t have that kind of money. He really is an “all in” kind of guy. God help anyone between him and someone in distress.

I've been hospitalized before, and John has been there every step of the way with me. I wasn't getting the care I needed, and after advising the nurse what needed to be done without avail, he went and rectified the situation with administration. He's the type of person who doesn't stop and doesn't take no for an answer when there is more to be done. If he wasn't a doctor, he could make in the world as an attorney, no question. I feel like he’s my lawyer if I ever don’t get the care I need.

John has always looked out for others as well as advocated for them. He has a gift for making not only kids laugh, but everyone else too. Even after he comes home from 12+ hour shifts, he still checks his phone, updates his coworkers and stays in touch with patients' families about their care. He literally texts parents in the hospital to see how things are going as he sits down to dinner or gets ready for bed. He's going to make an incredible concierge pediatrician. He deserves this more than anyone I know.

Anyone who decides to take their children to Rampart Pediatrics will tremendously benefit from having John as their pediatrician. He will do everything he can to give every single family and child the type of care they need and deserve.”

“As a RN CM, I have worked alongside Dr. Mullen and have had the opportunity to see him care for the patients in the pediatric unit and in the pediatric ICU in the hospital. He puts both the parents and the children at ease with his unique combination of personality and professionalism.

Dr. Mullen has a vast array of knowledge in medicine and is one of the most competent and intelligent people I know. He is very thorough in the care he gives each patient, even in the confined time constraints of a busy hospital unit.

My job is easier because of his comprehensive approach to caring for his patients, and the meticulous notes he leaves on each of them. I wish he would have been in practice when my children were little, and I would recommend Dr. Mullen and Rampart Pediatrics to any and every family who is looking for an innovative, alternative, and exceptional way to get healthcare for their children and teens.”

“Dr. Mullen took care of my child when he was in the hospital with meningitis. He was less than a year old and was very sick. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time to go over and explain everything. He followed up frequently. He really cares. Whenever my kids go to the ER he stops in to check on them. I don’t know what we would do without him. Can't wait for him to open.”

“I have had the privilege to work alongside Dr. Mullen in both the general pediatric and pediatric ICU population as a registered nurse for over the past three years. I have watched him provide the utmost, attentive care to children ranging in age from newborn to adolescents and teens. He is knowledgeable, caring and professional. He goes above and beyond to make sure each patient and their family members are provided with the information and resources they need.

Dealing with a sick child in a hospital setting can come with a lot of stress and strain. Dr. Mullen has a way of putting both children and their families at ease with his personable demeanor. Even on the busiest of days, he always makes the time to make sure each family has the personalized and individualized care they deserve. I have seen him come in early, stay late and even follow up on his patients on his days off with dedication.

It is always wonderful to work with a provider such as Dr. Mullen, who is not only genuine to his patients, but to his fellow healthcare providers in a team setting. He truly believes in the importance of communication, which is imperative when taking care of the sickest of kids.

There are many great pediatricians available in South Florida but Dr. Mullen makes people happy and he is very protective of his own. As a health care professional for the past 14 years and a mother to two young kids, I would absolutely recommend Dr. Mullen and I have chosen him as a personal provider for my own girls. If you are looking for excellence in care, then I highly recommend Dr. Mullen for pediatric services.”
